This is not 'unabridged', it is in fact butchered, but why stop there? A glance at the 'working at height regulations' shows this book to be a Health and Safety nightmare. Clearly someone thought that 'The Land of Magic Medicines' might be confused by a three year old for a 'crack house' and best not to talk about 'The Land Of Tempers', because no-one in the real world has a temper. This 'unabridged' work has five chapters missing. Kate Winslet is excellent and there is little point trying to review the work of Enid Blyton, I mean you know what you are getting, or do you?I can just about stomach the PC police changing Dick and Fanny to Rick and Frannie and Dame Slap to Dame Snap, but around chapter nineteen we arrive at: 'The Mysterious Land Of The Stolen Chapters'. I also decided that I would buy the audio version so that sometimes we could listen together and look at the pictures. I originally bought the illustrated print version of 'The Magic Faraway Tree' to read to my granddaughter, on the grounds that my mother read it to me and I read it to my children.
